Westbury Summer Arts Camp

Westbury Summer Arts Camp is an arts intensive, 6 week camp experience for children 6 – 12 years old, sponsored by the Village of Westbury in Westbury NY. Our unique format connects local, working artists with youth to collaborate on projects focusing on sustainable materials, contemporary artists and Social Emotional Learning. Visual arts are explored using traditional and non-traditional materials and techniques. We also offer learner centered electives such as photography, mixed media, 3D/building, fiber/textile arts, dance and music.

Guest artists have included the Long Island Children’s Museum, POP Draw!, Long Island Motion Picture Arts Center and Museum and International Girls Ensemble. Our partnership with The Simple Good of Chicago, an international arts organziation, brings their award winning social justice program to our camp community. Their programs have included a community mural and photography exhibit that was presented at the Westbury Arts Gallery. As the Director of the summer arts camp, I am most proud of the opportunites we have to employ artists and provide our youth with unique arts experiences.

Below are just a few photos of our amazing campers, teaching artists and guest artists doing what they do best; creating!

In 2020 we pivoted successfully to a virtual camp format. Watch our gallery presentation here – https://www.emaze.com/@AOWICFCRC/summer-arts-camp-2020
